Review of the Meteora day trip from Athens, including monasteries, caves, lunch, transport, costs, guide quality, and practical tips.

“The monasteries were beautiful (the 2 we could see) but the experience was awful and rushed. The drive from Athens to Meteora was from 8am to 330pm, with 3 stops (bathroom break, 30min snack break and 30min lunch break). We saw only 2 monasteries (not 3 like advertised) and the last 4 were barely visible due to fog and the sun had already set. This is partly due to traffic detour due to the farmer's strike, but the tour guide said this has been happening for 3 years. They need to adjust the schedule to a 630am or 7am departure to account for detours and allow for time at Meteora…”

“Yes, it is a very very long bus ride. But I believe was worth it when you see the monastery. Kate was a wonderful guide and very informative, and was always willing to answer all of our questions As far as Key Tours they were easy to contact and communicate with, but there was a mishap, as there was not pick up and drop off at my hotel at indicated”

“What a wonderful trip out of Athens ! Perfect organisation , bus on time, schedule respected, nice hotel room with view on the rocks .. our guides on both days were very knowledgeable and nice… the views / landscapes are just stunning 🤩… excellent sunset point to enjoy the serenity of a truly amazing sunset between 2 rocks - and I also warmly recommend the 8km hiking on trails between the monasteries on day 2”
